Hello all's I'm Kevin. I am building a trike out of my 2006 FXDI. Here's the problem, I am a wounded warrior. I lost both legs and broke my back in thirteen places along with thirteen other broken bones. I have had my goal to ride again since i woke up in the hospital. I was more worried about being able to ride again than i was about being able to walk again. Well bike is under construction now. We are goin to make to baskets one for the wheelchair wheels and the other for the wheelchair frame. Now that leaves me with my 2500.00 seat cushion. So my plans are to add a motor cycle trunk for the cushion and whatever else i need to bring or want to bring. My problem is every trunk i have been able to find either opens from the back or from the right side. I need a trunk that opens from the left side since i will already be on the bike when i need to stow the cushion. With my broken back my balance isn't good enough to do a right side open. does anyone know who does special orders? Thank you much.
Kevin G.

Thank you for your service man. If I lived closer I would come over and help you out. I haven't tried to rework the hinges on any boxes but would that be a possibility? Just change the mountings? could always bondo and paint the old mounting holes.

Why not remove Tour pak from mount and rotate it? Maybe post pics of what you want to accomplish.

Thanks Gents, but make sure you put a few thank you in the air to those men and women right back there, and to the ones that never left. As to my question. I haven't purchased one yet. I was and still am looking fer the left side open, before I make the purchase. Plus I wanna get farther along on the trike. I still haven't decided on if I wanna leave it that red pearl and match the fenders, or if I want different color entirely. Its all a new a very exciting thing. Not to mention how special it is cause it was my Pops bike.

Hi Kevin. Welcome home and thank you.

Could a customizer/body shop take the standard trunk and swap the hardware to make it open from the left? Then repair & repaint it for you?

Your story is inspirational. I have to believe a local or nationally-known top-notch shop would love to help you.

Best of luck!

Will need a bit of paint touch up but just have someone swap the hinges & latches around to suit your needs .
