So I am leading a group of bikes on a back road and we get stuck behind a big truck. When a passing lane comes and it is clear, I twist the throttle and accelerate rather quickly and when I look down at the speedometer the bike is coming up on 90 mph. So I figure, that should be fast enough and I start to let off the throttle and as I do that, I notice it says 5 at the bottom of the speedometer. I was in 5th and never shifted into 6th.
The bike is stock except for the V&H dual slash cut slip ons, so maybe I don't need to do the stage one and put in a cam like I was thinking!
My 13 Super Glide Custom had the 103 Stage II kit with SE255 cams, and I got rid of it because I thought I would kill myself, after realizing I was shifting into 6th at 100 mph.
I must have been out to lunch thinking the Limited with a 103 would be a slower bike.
LOL. We may need to put a governor on your bike. (Well, I was thinking a mechanical one, but someone like Chis Christie may serve to slow you down, too.)
Why, do you usually up shift to accelerate? 90 in 5th is not so impressive when considering my sport bike hit 100 in second lol
Completely different animal.
OP, I have the 96 on my SG and last year had an Ultra loaner with the 103 for a week. WOW, what a difference - much more "response" when twisting the throttle!
