In some areas of Northern California, turkeys are rampant and do all sorts of damage to vehicles (both with two wheels and four wheels) wife and I were going through Marsh Creek and a flock of them decided to try and fly across the road, we missed them, van going opposite direction wasn't so fortunate...square in the drivers side windshield. The bird was half in and half out. Scared the poor driver half to death...van sat for two days with that bird in the windshield, always wondered why.

I wonder why the birds instinct is to take off and fly down the road in front of you rather than swerve off and get the hell out of your way. I've had many close calls but only thus far have hit a dog (unfortunately.)

Glad the outcome was no worse. Near Eastland, Texas I had a large owl fly between me and the windshield. Took a year off my life and at my age I can't afford that.

Had a wild turkey fly into my clutch lever/hand. The handle bent around my fingers and the impact up to my wrist. The bird, well I have the longest tail feather as a prize. The bird won't need no more. Hard shifting with only half a pull on the lever.
