Yep, rolling down the back roads of Carroll County yesterday I come around a bend in the road and this buzzard decides to take off as I am rolling by at about 40 mph. My natural reaction was to duck behind the windscreen and the windscreen took the brunt of the hit, deflected big bird off to the right, caught the mirror, twisted it around a bit, scuffed the windscreen, but that was it. Didn't bother going back to check on the buzzard because I really didn't care if it was dead or alive. PLUS every time I looked at the right mirror I got to see my smiling face.
I live in Carroll County, GA and I can't tell you how many times I've come close to hitting buzzards on the back roads going to Wedowee or up to Cheaha. Always wondered what the outcome would be. Going out for my normal Sunday morning ride in a little while and will be on the lookout for buzzard and deer!
One time I had a low flying seagull bounce off the top of my head. Few seconds later felt something running down my forehead..wiped it, was red...thing gave me a gash on the top of my head. Musta been its beak or maybe toenails. Was in a beach area....so went down to the water and dunked my head a bit to rinse for a while. Neck was sore for days.
