Default Reduced Effort Clutch Kit

I just received the two clutch kits I had ordered for both our bikes. Mine being an '05 RK Classic and the wife's being an '05 Softail Deluxe. I had also ordered the two service manuals at the same time but the one for the Softail is still on order.

If I was to do mine first using the service manual to get an idea as to what I'm doing, is the Softail engine / trans that much different where I should wait for the manual or should I be able to figure it out based on doing mine?

Thanks,
Brian

If you're a regular wrench, I think you'd probably be able to figure it out, but if not, then I'd wait. Didn't any instructions come with the kits?

As for me, I'd have to wait just to know which end of the clutch handle goes where.

Yer arms are as big as my waist. Why do you need a reduced effort clutch kit? lol... The clutch on my Superglide is really hard but I don't even notice when I'm on the road. I guess women need it but when I sat on an 06, SG, the clutch pull felt wimpy.

Well if you notice in the picture it's my left arm that's showing. How else do you think it got that big?.......from all the clutch pulling. Now if I could get the clutch over to the right hand side I could get that arm built up too.

Actually I got the kit for my wife and figured I'd give it a shot too. There have been times when we have hit stop and go traffic and it would've been nice to have. Seems that as soon as we would drop it into neutral the traffic would start moving again.

IF IT WERE ME I WOULD DEFINATLY WAIT FOR THE MANUAL...AS IT IS IM NOT MUCH OF A WRENCH AT ALL. MY BIKE CAME WITH A HYDAULIC CLUTCH, ITS VERY LIGHT. MY BUDDY JUST BOUGHT AN 06 SPRINGER AND HIS CLUTCH IS AS LIGHT AS MINE IF NOT LIGHTER.(ITS MECHANICAL)

Go for it. If it's the EZ pull clutch it's a simple enough job. There's a article in the DIY section on this. Very informative. Shows you were to grind it down. I just used a dremel to do the grinding. Pay attention to where the tong and the snap ring set up is. The instructions in the kit aren't very informative but he DIY on this has pictures as well as directions. Good Luck !!!

I just bought a after market easy clutch kit made by white brothers from Harely dealer for $21 and according to the dealer there is no modification or grinding that needs to be done.

I had to grind it down just a bit for it to clear. The bottom portion and around the curve of it needed just a little grinding. The DIY section shows exactly how to do it. Like i said it only took a minute or two with a dremel. Maybe you won't have to grind yours. If you're having trouble getting the end of the cable to seat in then you will have to grind it.

The kits I got were the actual Harley kits. Part #36808-05

Here is the LINK to the Harley site.

Thanks,

The clutch on a softail and roadking are the same. The adjustment is the same. If you can do yours then you can do the softail. If you are not sure then wait. Ask your service manager or TC.
