Went for a ride last night and felt totally discombobulated, everything that could ruin a ride did. Pants felt tight, shirt felt loose, head itched, took the wrong line into every corner, shifted like a beginner, sun was in my eyes, too hot, needed gas, slow drivers, etc... I mean what the hell? Ever had one of those days when you just feel totally out of place on your bike? Feels like your sitting on top of it instead of in it? For the first time in a long time I couldn't wait to get home, put on some shorts & plop down in the ol' lazy boy...... I suppose it could just be PMS.
Somedays or nights everything is perfect; strong tailwind, smooth roads, no tailgaiters, bike purrs, suns at your back, smell of a fresh cut field etc. Other days or nights it's the opposite. When I get the feeling that it's just not right I usually head back to the barn.

I have certainly had those rides.
Best thing is just to be happy that you got the "bad one" out of the way.
