Default Tire Transporting?

Okay the back tire on my FXLR is about worn out, and I'm ordering a new tire from BikeBandit and will need to transport the tire on my bike to the bike shop to get it mounted and balanced.

I could take the tire off and just take the tire in, but its quicker if I let my local shop do it. They only charge $40 to remove, mount and balance, and replace the tire, so $40 = a deal for me.

Since I'm ordering online I was either thinking of having the tire delivered to the shop or have it delivered to my house and then drive it down on the bike by putting the bike around my waist.

I'm hesitant with getting the tire delivered at the shop because of the shipping company, not the shop. I've tried doing this before and have had the tire go missing because FedEx tried to deliver the tire after hours and left it outside.

Has anyone ridden with a tire around their waist before. Is this safe?

When I do this, I take the tire to the shop in the car and drop it off the night before the appointment.

Of course it's safe.

No worse than a Hula Hoop.

Though you will need a bungee cord.

A tire around the waist could be a great safety device if you go down.
Some of us already have tires around the waist.

If you have a sissy bar and passenger seat it makes it easier.

Thats how I hauled the only tire a shop has ever done for me in.

If you can put a 16" tire around your waist, you must weigh 90 lbs. How do you hold the bike up?
