Default Harley commuters?

Commuting 20 miles a day on a 2014 Fat Bob since it was new but my office just moved to Dallas making my commute 60-70 per day at least.

Found a good route avoiding the traffic but I'm curious how many of you are riding daily, total miles and experience. How do these bikes hold up? Should rack up 20k per year now. Any daily commuting wisdom?

Here is my winter set up. Tall winscreen, lowers and a Corbin seat and heated demon grips. Waterproof army backpack holds gear. Quad lock holds my phone running Waze! Love the daily ride.

I commute 60 miles per day, but on a street glide. I think your set-up is just fine. I would get a set of bags to keep some essentials in if they wont fit in your pack. Rain gear, extra set of shades/goggles, and whatever else. Sucks being stuck at work knowing you have a 45 minute ride home in shitty weather that you are not prepared for.

Rain gear is crammed under handlebar bag. You are correct, nothing worse than a wet ride after a long day.

Last summer my bike was my only running vehicle. Just used some throw over bags. No windshield. No front fender. Just planned it out for the day depending on weather. If rain was in the forecast then water proof jacket and a full face. Otherwise it was shirt and vest. Maybe a flannel or sweatshirt at night.

Got a buddy in Seattle that only owns a Harley. Rides rain or shine everyday.

"Dallas" and "winter"?

Heh. I wish we had that kind of winter!

I commute when I want to. That probably works out to four days a week on average, eight months a year. I'll take the truck if I expect I'll need to haul something, and I'm not interested in riding in the pouring rain. That happens enough anyway.

As far as putting miles on the bike, why not? I'd never not ride because of that.

During school, I won't ride because to get out of my street, means going left and getting on a road with a school zone. With my car, I've sat there for almost 5 minutes waiting to get in the mix.

I ride my 2015 Low Rider to work--which is 42 miles each way for a total of 84 a day. Most of my riding these days is commuting.

I ride every day that there is not a threat of ice/snow, or if it is actively raining during the morning commute. Due to circumstances, I did ride to work this morning in the rain at 40*F. I wear a Firstgear Thermo one-piece suit over my work clothes (not a suit, but could be), and stay warm and dry even in the rain. That suit has been a GREAT investment! I have ridden in temps as low as 27*F so far. Highly recommended.
