Motorcycles are not a necessity so why not make them illegal all together? Is it not safer to take public transportation or drive a Volvo. Funny to me how people are so quick to take others freedoms (to protect them) while they smoke a cigarette, stuffing their face until they need medical intervention all the while telling others how to prolong their life!
Amen!
Just remember, to all those busy bodies who think they NEED to worry what everyone else does, there are plenty of folks who think YOU are a STUPID IDIOT to even ride a motorcycle.
Let those who ride decide. No debate.
Can't believe this needs to be explained, particularly on a Harley Davidson forum.
While I agree with this statement I do have to offer the cold, hard facts, government paid health care. It is my business with what happens to your body because the tax payer, is on the hook.
You really thought the affordable care act was about lowering costs? Unfortunately, that health care reform we begged for is paid for by our freedom!
Ruled by the least common denominater.
Uhhh, wait a minute here....when did government start paying healthcare??? Everyone I know has to pay a monthly fee for their own healthcare...lets not get confused here...
The government has something called that "cough cough" affordable care act...aka Obamacare....which is a mandate to make you have insurance and fine you if you cant afford it...that is NOT paying for insurance...that is just forcing you to get insurance.
If you think you have ANY right to have a say or know what happens to my body or any discussion between my doctor and I...you are SADLY mistaken....I pay for my 18 year old daughters insurance and I cant know anything that happens unless she tells me or allows me to....so some stranger isn't going to get more control than I do for my own family...
on that note...sit your silly *** down about thinking "It is my business with what happens to your body because the tax payer, is on the hook."
.....just so long as I'm not going to get stuck paying for someone else's stupidity.
Lol, then you better quit riding and driving 'cause that's what insurance is...paying for someone else's stupidity. (Unless you happen to BE one of the stupid)
The "one idea fits all" contingent thrives up here, for damn sure ! The rationale, which will be coming to a State near you, is that because the public (you) pay for your health care, the public (they) get to decide what is and isn't appropriate for you to do. "Choices ? We don't need no stinking choices"!
Aside from that, owing to our thriving bug population, an hour on the road leaves your helmet looking like a pineapple, raw liver and onion skin pizza. I wear a lid and want to.
Why is it that when someone doesnt have the same beliefs as someone else, they are labeled "stupid"?
You're right. "Stupid" was a bad and inflammatory choice of words. Sorry. I should have said I didn't want to pay for someone else's inability to make a reasoned and logical choice.
I don't consider it to be an aspect of my "beliefs", just my experience and observations. For 50 years I've worn helmets when I ride. I also where boots, not flip-flops, and I wear a jacket with armor, and sometimes pants with armor, gloves, ear plugs, etc. I've been pretty much dismissive about vanity driven riders that wear just the right shades, and watch caps pulled down just so. For most of them it is a phase and they will be onto the next fashion accessory in a couple of years. Unless they hit their heads.

Funny, I am almost the same age as you, been riding since I was knee high to a grasshopper....and I wear my sunglasses and hat pulled just so as to not let the wind take it....does that mean by your statement I have the inability to make a reasoned and logical choice just because I CHOOSE not to wear a brain bucket???
I think you like to push yourself around and force others to think like you or they are just stupid....you can phrase it any way you want...
It has never been the job of any governmental agency to tell a free individual what they must put on their body. All free people should have the God given right to make BOTH good, as well as bad choices.
