My RGCVO came with the hidden antenna and I live in Rural South Texas, never fades.

Might want to tune it.

What do you mean, "tune it"? How do you do that?

I agree with Rumblin.....the hidden antenna reduces your reception by about half. If you are like me and live in the country, it's frustrating. I will be looking for alternatives.

Antennae need to be tuned for a band width that they will perform in, this is achieved with a watt meter or some other device that can check power and reflected power, while not common in AM/FM music radio's, if you purchase a tunable antenna, tune it for best performance.

Location/Placement is also a factor, most antennae have ideal location information in the package.

Trade offs, people trade performance for aesthetics when they go low pro or hidden, the small rubber antennae are not high performance, you can purchase a high performance or "High Gain" antenna, it will be long/tall and require tuning.

Since I am in and have been for 30 years the wireless business, I have found that antennae are like speakers, cheap ones sound like crap even on the best stereo money can buy.
