Been trying to figure out what's going on with my bike. First of all its a 07 dyna street bob, 22k miles.
Problem- As I'm riding bike doesn't want to speed up, top speed I can get is 40mph. I'm able to shift through all gears no problem. When trying to speed up bike just redlines.
Adjust clutch cable and clutch. Transmission oil looks fine, primary oil smells burnt replaced primary oil, some metal shavings on the primary drain plug.
After adjustments and what not; took it out for a ride, rode good for about 5 min then same thing.
that's clutch. Sounds like the adjustment didn't hold. I'd redo the adjustment procedure, making sure that the nut that holds the adjuster on the clutch is tight.
If the problem persists, probably time to take the basket apart and see if the plates area any good, or just change 'em as long as you're already greasy and ill tempered and have it all apart.
Check the manual for absolute adjustment procedures, and try once again. Likely going to need new plates considering your out on it and how its responding to the throttle

I'm guessing it's going to be the clutch basket?
Hopefully someone will know 😧 thanks in advance!
Hmmmm.... also what oil did you use in the primary? Oils with friction modifiers can make your clutch plates slip.
Nothing wrong with the tranny. Clutch should not be bad at 22K mikes. I would recheck adjustment and make sure it's right. if it is pull the clutch and look at the plates.
Your clutch is slipping. When you adjust the clutch, make sure you're not tightening the screw so it's snug - that'll make it slip. You want to run it in until you just feel a little bit of resistance, back it off a tad, and lock it in place there. Use an offset wrench to tighten the locknut while you use an allen wrench to hold the screw in place.
I put nearly 40,000 mile son the original clutch in my 2000 Ultra with many of these miles in the Rocky Mts. and a trip to Alaska.
I had a new 6-spd tranny installed and the first clutch only lasted about 13,000 miles. The dealer installed a new clutch and that one lasted only about 11,000 miles.
The dealer then installed a THIRD clutch and even it would "slip" under moderate-to-heavy acceleration.
The installed a new clutch basket, still had the same issue.
Finally, they installed a new "gear set" in the tranny and that fixed the problem. I still have no idea how that could have caused the clutch to "slip".
