Question Gauge Trim Kit

Hello all, I was looking @ the Gauge trim kit #61400200, I comes with a black mounting plate. I have already installed the Inner fairing trim / engine turned design. My question is do I need to remove the trim, or will this install over the trim. There are notches in the mounting plate. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Instructions are included. What do the instructions tell you to do or not do?

Didn't want to drop the cash for the trim if the back plate would cover the trim I already installed. Just looking for someone who may have come across this, if they are just peel and press on or if they need to have something installed behind the trim. Lord knows we already pay enough for everything else, just trying to save some for once.

If you mean like this:

Then you can just discard the black insert and use the gage trim

Exactly like that, thank you!!!! The dealership told me the black insert was notched for the gauge trim. I didn't want to have to remove that, and wreck it. Looks nice, thank you!!!!

You won't have the notches so you'll just have to center the pieces the best you can.
