Damn people, slow down , stop and smell the flowers, enjoy life, get over being left lane *****.

Why? In a lot of states the left lane is a passing lane not necessarily the fast lane or anything speed related. If you're not passing, you are breaking the law in those states.

Case in point-buddy of mine got pulled over for cruising in the left lane in Texas. In his car. Wasn't speeding. Got a ticket.

FYI #1: People travelling 5 or even 10 MPH over the speed limit aren't necessarily breaking the law - an LEO might opt to ticket the **** blocking the "passing lane" instead of the speeder as some of us use the left lane to "pass" and guess what, we throttle up to get around the follow in the center lane who's travelling maybe the posted speed limit - no judge is going rule against that.

FYI #2: Lane ****'s are people that hijack the "passing lane", not the people that bitch about it.

FYI #3: Dead baby seals got nothing to do with this thread =D

Another know-it-all telling the rest of us how we should behave. Isn't the government doing a good enough job for you? We are not talking about speed limit, but we are talking about the laissez-faire attitude by those riding the left lane because they say they feel more safe. It's dangerous and is the cause of more road rage than any other bad habit in driving. You get over it, I'll continue to abuse those who are intent on being unconcerned with the rest of us on the highway's, which they seem to believe their rights supersede all others. Share the highways, get the hell out of the way.

You're the exact mindset that infuriates me. You are not Deputy Fife, in charge of slowing down speeders. I call people like you "Passholes"
.
I started driving in 1974, in NY. The first time I ever got pulled over, was by a Connecticut State Trooper on I95. He asked me if I knew why he pulled me over. I said "No. I was going the speed limit." He said "Exactly. Get out of the left lane, It is for passing only."

Many passholes speed up when you try to pass them. How do you explain that? Last week a twenty someting in a small sedan was doing 65, in a 70 mph zone, in the left lane. When I tried to pass him he sped up to 85. I passed him with my truck, and when I looked in my rear view mirror he was giggling like a girl. He's lucky I have responsibilities in life or my temper might have gotten the best of me.

You, sir, are one of the clueless. It's real simple, if you are in the left lane and not going faster than the rest of the vehicles, you are impeding the flow of traffic and creating a dangerous situation. You want to smell the flowers, great, but do it where you are not getting in the way of people who have things to do and places to go. That goes for whatever you ride or drive.

Oh yeah, and just about everywhere you go now has signs that say

"SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT"

So if youre all about "obeying the law", move right and go the speed limit.

Doesn't matter that they were riding Harleys.....riding Harley's doesn't make all riders/drivers perfect. Just like with cars 'n trucks and other motorcycles...you get ignorant idiots.

Left lane is for active passing only. If you're not actively passing someone..move back over to the middle lane or right lane. I can't stand left lane hogs.

Good thread. I try to drive/ ride faster than the slowest and slower than the fastest so I do run the left lane. If a low flying jet comes up on me I'm more than happy to move over and let them run point.
Quite a few times they have saved me a ticket.

You see this frequently, got a refresher in this mindset last night.
Light traffic on a 3-lane (Each direction) road, I was in the right lane a fair distance from the car in front of me maintaining speed and distance.
FWIW That car (Minivan) entered the highway slightly behind me from a feeder road several miles earlier, sped up to pass me then dropped down to the speed range that I was traveling at once ahead.

O.K. you lead, I was moving at my preferred speed and had a comfort zone, no problem.

Eventually a car passed in the middle lane and once ahead of the lead car the directional's came on to pull into the right lane.

The car in front of me sped up and then a war began with each car speeding up.
I watched from a distance for a while but exited shortly after.
Don't know who won the duel.

I don't believe that there were more than a handful of cars on this section of road at the time.
Nothing but an ego situation.
