I bought two leather Harley jackets, one was a very expensive top of the line jacket with heavy leather, vents, and pads. The other was a regular leather jacket not quite as heavy without all the bells and whistles. I was surprised that one being so pricey and having the Harley Davidson label that both were made over seas. I figured the high price was somewhat due to being made in America.

Nope, you paid for the name, not where it came from. I bet if you took off the HD name it might only cost about 1/4 of what you originally paid for it.
I bought a nice Harley jacket 14 years ago made in Indonesia. Still going strong.
I was in the market last year for a new leather jacket and after comparing and trying on several,I ended up with one made in Indonesia. Quality jacket, good fit and soft leather and its a Harley jacket.
I bought a Harley Mesh Jacket, this year, and I really like it. But my leather jackets are better quality than the Harleys, made in USA, and cheaper.
My heavy Leather was made by a small company, but my leather/cordura jacket was made by Hillside, and I love it
Tough, and only $239 for a 44 Long. Regular sizes only $199.

The heavy jacket is about as good as a jacket could be and I really like it. The lighter jacket is good also. When I mentioned what they go for to someone I was told the price was high from being American made. It was then when I looked at the label. It's no big deal because I didn't pay close to retail, I was just surprised.
I never buy anything just because it has HD on it.
