Softails look great, especially the Slim, but I can't stand the counterbalanced motor. For me it's Dyna, Sportster, or Road King. I'd vote for the Low Rider S or new Roadster based on what your looking for.

You made the right choice, Horsepower, the Lowrider will shake at the red lights and stop signs, but will be smooth as a baby's bottom riding down the road, and you will have more take off power than a slim will.

I have owned a Slim S since April and can confirm that you do get the boards in really early.

On really twisty stuff its much easier on low speed corners as the bike rolls into corners really easy. In main roads you dont get the problem until you get to a road island and then again you get the boards to scrape reall easily.

I have done 2500 miles on mine since april and have scraped bith sides at least 6 times.

I am now resigned to replacing the boards sometime in the future.

The other thing is the ride at the back end isnt all that good and the softail becomes a hard tail when you hit a pot hole.

All that said the styling and looks of the slim S (i bought the olive green with the army star) is just fantastic and the screaming eagle 110 is just so much fun. I would never swap her out for anything else ever.

If you are not taken with the styling then the low rider is probably the better option. I you like it radical and a big grin on your face get the slim and even better the slim S

I would get the Slim hands down. The Low Rider S looks too "trendy", and there's that stupid looking factory "bobbed" rear fender again, that gets worse looking on every new model they come out with.

I like the look of the bobbed fender. They look great with the LED strip brake light added to the end. I am a little biased of course! While I personally prefer a bit more chrome and color, I got used to this really quick. Fantastic handling bike. Can't compare to a slim S as I didn't ride one. (It was out of my budget). Always remember you can buy anything chrome and the rest can be painted to your liking. Just an opinion..
