I really wish I had not posted this. As for me, there is no more courteous rider on the road. People who know me will agree, not bragging just the facts. There have been many opinions stated here. The guy that was with me was almost taken out a couple years ago, the guy he was with, was hit. Sport bike came across.. good news is only a lot of bruises and broken wrist for our friend.. Plus his bike had a lot of damage. This being said, I ride for therapy, just retired and wife has cancer so I really like to relax when possible. Didn't want to start a this verses that. As for the other guy, he may have been having a bad day and his comments brought on mine and so on. Point is that is a fast and dangerous road, fun on bikes of all kinds and sports cars. Ride safe my friends where ever you ride.
I win! I posted it up and it's huge! You'll have to take my word for it tho. Izzo took it down.
Seriously guys - most here are fine with waving someone by. I don't think anyone is arguing that. But when you're trying to hustle through the curves and riding with friends, it's probably not going to happen because the faster rider gets stacked up behind a group. Guess what? That's life. Deal with it.
But I would imagine most, if not all of us are happy to wave by a faster rider when they are right on our 6. That was not the case here. And regardless - the guy was a douche bag and lucked out that he didn't get thrown off the overlook. Pull off the road.....LOL.
I win! I posted it up and it's huge! ... That's NOT what Cheryl says :>)

You have nothing to regret. You did nothing wrong. I'm a fast rider and I'll be the 1st to jump on someone for not showing the proper courtesy. Typically, I would be on the other side of this debate. But you and your buddy didn't do a damn thing wrong. Ignore the arm chair quarterbacks that "woulda dunit this way..." Talk is cheap.

It's amazing how many people don't have the common sense and courtesy to just get the hell out of the way of faster traffic. Bikers are the worst of all other vehicles. HOG groups are worse of all! I'd rather be stuck behind several motor homes that a HOG pack, being the that motor homes drive faster. I have a hot rod & a cruiser. When I'm on the cruiser I always pull to the far right and wave others on to make the pass, cars or bikes. When I'm on the hot rod, I will cross double yellows to blow by if they're too ignorant to move over and let me pass.
Last summer I went for a ride with some slow riders. I was embarrassed to even be with them holding up traffic like they were. Cars, trucks and bikes were all passing us... when they could. Then we get to the destination and everybody's like WTF? What's with all those crazy bastards passing us so fast??? I had to ask if they were serious and advise that we were going extremely slow holding everybody up. And told them I do the same all the time. I don't care if the speed limit is 55 and you're doing 65. If I want to do 75, get out of my way and let me pass. I'm going to do it, like it or not. So move over to make my pass safer for everybody. It's just common courtesy.
"05Train", your wrong.
They were going above the posted speed limit as it was. They're not obligated to pull over so some ******* can go faster. He could have passed them if he was in so much of a hurry.
I agree. The op and his friend didn't do anything wrong.

So you think people should give you and others like you common courtesy because you want to be a a$$hole? Really? Bikers like you and 05train are what give nice bikers a bad name.

PanHeadRich isn't the a$$hole in this case. It's the HOG members playing rolling road block & acting like they're the new sheriff in town.
Respect and courtesy have absolutely nothing to do with bad behavior. Bikers die on that road all the time.
Respect and courtesy are directly related to good social conduct and not disrespect for the law and putting others at risk.
I have done the Dragon. Even though I'm in my 70's that jackwad would have been in a world of hurt if he confronted me. I have always been and still am able to take care of business.
I live very close to the dragon. I've stated before, I'm no real fan of that road. I also am quick to wave the crotch rockets past me, when I do travel it. I've never seen trouble there, however, I'm sure some *** kicking takes place with all the idiots showing their stuff. All these texts that crank on huffy just make me decide to stay away longer.
I think there is an opportunity for both parties here.
I don't care how much over the speed limit you were, if someone wants by, let them by.
Both riders get to enjoy the ride better. (cagers drive the speed limit in the fast lane and won't get over for the same reason and drives me crazy as they back up traffic on the highway.)
If he wants to ride off into the ditch, let him go. Better than him getting all jacked up taking you with him or having some idiot screaming at you at the end of the ride.
And yes, he was a jackhole and wish someone would have kicked his bike over. NO reason to come at you like that. And since he kept his helmet on he's a chicken sh*t too.
for the record, I have ridden it several times and I am no longer the young buck racing through the curves now either. We didn't get this far by being stupid and he will either learn to adapt or he won't be riding long. He will take himself out or someone will take him out. Either way, Karma will solve this problem.
