You have nothing to regret. You did nothing wrong. I'm a fast rider and I'll be the 1st to jump on someone for not showing the proper courtesy. Typically, I would be on the other side of this debate. But you and your buddy didn't do a damn thing wrong. Ignore the arm chair quarterbacks that "woulda dunit this way..." Talk is cheap.
oh man.....
just had to go there didn't you?
You have nothing to regret. You did nothing wrong. I agree and think that you showed great restraint ( more than I would have ) when confronted. Life goes on :>)
No need or legal requirement to pull over, that's bullshit...
Actually (just adding some fuel...) I think most states do have a law that says slower traffic should move/stay right to allow faster traffic to pass... <g>

Good Morning Bob :>)
'Mornin Larry!
My morning contribution to this 2nd guessing **** show is that faster riders need to understand that not everyone is as skilled as they (think they) are. I've heard some people can get intimidated riding the Dragon. It's the big challenging milestone that they can brag about at the bar that night. For them to move right to allow someone by may just not be an option.
And I'll jump ahead to those who would say they shouldn't be on the road then It's a public road. As long as they stay in their lane and don't break the laws, they have every right to be there. Do I like getting stuck behind them? No. But I'm not so arrogant as to think they should get out of my way because I want to exceed the speed limit on a 2 lane twisty road.
When folks move over for me - I appreciate it. When they don't, I sit back and relax. Life's too short to get worked up over this stupid ****.
So there. Now I'm going to call my boss and see if I can parlay a biz trip to Sturgis next week into a riding one. Wish me luck!

Isn't that only if there is a two lanes of traffic going the same direction?
I am very close to the Dragon and have ridden it on sportbikes and on Harleys. I always try to wave everyone by that is going faster or use a pulloff if I can safely do so. I would say this guy was not a local. Most of the locals that I know are so good at riding that rode, you would have only been a blip of the throttle to them. I have never had any issues over there either and hope I don't. I don't do well with confrontation. On another note, I don't really care for that road now that I don't have a sportbike. I like the atmosphere at the store but I can get that at a bike night somewhere.
He did pass them, and here the guy is whining about it on the Internet.
I'm an *******; I like to ride fast on challenging roads. If you want to sightsee, that's your business. But don't force me to stay behind you when you can clearly see I want to go faster. If your ego's so fragile that you can't handle not being in front, you should probably find another hobby.
It has nothing to do with "obligation", and everything to do with being considerate to other riders.
You want them to be considerate? Where's your consideration for them? Your desire to go faster than the speed limit does not override someone else's desire to stay at that limit.
rude kinda obliterates the question of right or wrong. rude is wrong.
I see pulling over as polite, and tail-gating as rude. he was rude. who, after all, is in such such a phuckin hurry as to ruin everybodys day with offers of violence and threatening postures. People sometimes get dead over silly stuff like this.
I agree about turning back...risky. I've seen very bad things come from rude...burned out bars, a blown up bike shop, bullets. Not nice. Your helmeted "friend" has knees? Just askin' Not much point in hitting his empty head... I wonder if he realized the danger he put himself in. I think not,
