Yeah weird...if he was in his room he would have locked the bike. If they were going to steal it why would they go to his room to get the keys and then leave the keys behind? Maybe he saw them from the window and ran outside in his flip flops and shorts to confront them and they grabbed him?
That's what I'm thinking. First I thought he just grabbed some cash and left his wallet and house keys behind, for a late night beer or food run and had a medical emergency, or something happened and went off the road into some thick brush. The report says his keys were left behind but doesn't say specifically his bike key (I separate mine). However, if his bike key was for sure left behind then that is out, unless he had two sets.
Most likely, someone was in the process of ripping off that beautiful bike and old Larry ran out to try and stop it but things went very bad for him and they took the bike (for parts-don't need a key) and Larry too.
Geez, I hope they find him but this doesn't look good at all....
That is awful. I hope he is found very soon and I hope safely.
I've known of some race cars stolen over the years and they aren't stolen to be sold, shown or driven and bikes are the same. They are stolen to be stripped. So the key/fob doesn't matter to them.

Yup-
This is a solo travelers worse nightmare. Alone, a little older, traveling thru an unfamiliar town, combined with a beautiful Harley that invites low life's who want it and think the guy is an easy mark. A bike that can be spotted from the road or followed in to where he parked it, is a recipe for disaster.
Damn I hope ol' Larry didn't try to stop them but it is a natural instinct to do so...
Days Inns frequently have pretty good video. If his only pair of shoes were still in the room, it's a pretty reasonable conclusion that he heard something outside, ran out, and got into a bad situation.
Be interesting to find out if any other guests heard or saw anything, view any available video, find out if similar incidents have occurred locally, etc.
