Even in Ohio where it is less than ideal to ride at least 4 months out of the year we have dealerships that stay open on Sunday. Iron Pony is open 7 days a week. Their service is open 7 days a week as well and they always mount and balance tires while you wait. While they are not an HD dealer they have lots of stuff (15 franchises) and over 100K Sq, Ft. Their sales, service parts and accessory departments are open 7 days a week year round. They are only closed for Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Christmas and New Years.

The market is a little soft for HD. The competitive nature of business says that you should do something to set yourself apart from competition. If you have seven dealers in the Houston area and they all have the same product and same hours it looks like one of them would be smart enough to step up and set themselves apart from the pack.

If I were a business owner with a brick and mortar location I would be accessible to my customers when they were available to spend money. Seems simple.

The one I go to is an hour away and last year, under a new owner, now closes at 7pm during the week and 6pm on Saturday. It's really been helpful.

I want every business to be open when I want. I want every traffic light to be green when I get to it. When it snows, I don't want the snow to fall in my driveway.

When I owned a restaurant, we were closed on Mondays. One time I had a guest in utter disbelief and disgruntled that even though we were normally closed on Mondays, we weren't open for a particular holiday that fell on a Monday. I just looked at him and said that my employees had lives, families, and deserved holidays too.

The dealer I bought my current Harley from in Portland, Or, is open 7 days a week. They just don't do service on Sunday & Monday. I bought our TriGlide there on a Sunday. Same goes for the dealer closest to me where I now live in San Diego..except I havent bought a bike there...yet.

FWIW...there is a new Indian dealership about 100 yards from my Harley dealership, and they are closed on Mondays & Sundays.

Tues-Sat is an AMA agreement that has been adhered to for over 40 years. It's not going to change anytime soon.

Go on Saturday do other stuff on Sunday, and first world problems means you are crying about something that is very insignificant and is kind of a real jerk thing to complain about when in other parts of the world people are starving to death and having body parts removed for small theft

I hear what you're saying but keep in mind that most people who work at HD Dealerships are also riders.
They too need some prime riding time as well as recovery time from bar hopping on Saturday night.

What if your boss told you that your work week was going to be Wednesday-Sunday and that you would have only Monday and Tuesday off?
How would that sit with you?

That is part of the PITA of working in a dealership.

MC dealers have predominately been closed Sun & Monday for as long as I can remember. I'm always a bit surprised when one is open on either or both of those days. I have an idea, pay the franchise fee to HD, the construction costs and the land fees, hire a staff and run a dealership any way you want. The dealers might just know that those days are horribly underperforming on a revenue vs cost scenario.

If its something you can buy online just buy it online if you cant make it during the week. It'll probably be cheaper and have it before the following weekend anyway. My dealer is open on Saturdays but not Sunday (others in area are though if an emergency) so HD is one of the few local dealers I use.

As somebody who works M-F, if a store isn't open on the weekends, I seek alternatives. I try to shop local when I can but I also don't expect anybody to change for me, they made the choice that weekends are either not profitable or prefer to have the time off like others.
