Does anyone else think that the mid frame heat deflectors actually trap more heat, making the heat worse on the rider's upper right thigh ?
I currently ride a 2016 Road Glide Ultra with mid frame heat deflectors. Previously, I had a 2012 Electra Glide Classic without the heat deflectors. It seemed much more comfortable, heat wise. I'm thinking of removing them from the Road Glide to see if there's any difference.
I am not really sure. I had an 04 Ultra Classic and my right leg would really get hot.
But then, they have re-routed the header pipes on the 14 Ultra Limited I have so it is hard to tell.
can't speak to the HD heat deflectors, but I have the Capt Itch crotch cooler on my '16 Road King and I couldn't be happier! It really does shield the heat
I've never hador needed or wanted any heat deflectors. The only time I sit for very long is at a stoplight and it's not that long to complain about feeling the heat because I really don't.

Agree....my Crotch Cooler keeps the heat completely away from my legs.
I have a 2014 SG and even when moving the heat from the rear cylinder seems much hotter than my '08 SG.
I ordered the RJS Originals heat shields Monday - due to arrive Thursday. I'll post after trying them this weekend.
Put them on my '03 ultra when I had it, and they made a big difference. I've had several bikes since then, and none of them had them and I didn't notice any more heat.,,
