Default Riding like a puzzle?

I was riding home from work the other day in the normal nightly traffic.

Suddenly a car wanted to move over and get off the freeway.....he took the speeding traffic from 75 to 40 and the cars started moving to every lane to avoid the slow guy (which of course blocked him in and made more of a mess).

I'm slowing and immediately my brain starts working out where I can escape to if I need to, trying to keep my eyes on all the moving trafficthat areignoringI'm there so they can get out from behind the slow guy, AND my hands and feet are doing thier thing to get the bike slowed and in the right position.

Ever feel like your doing a puzzle in your head while your riding?

Yep. You hit the nail on the head.

You described how I feel perfectly.
I feel this multi-option thinking has made me a much better driver in my cage as well.

Absolutely right. I employ the same defensive driving skills in the car as I do on the bike, even though I'm in much less personaljeopardy in the cage.

I love working my way through traffic. All your senses on full alert, knowing when to be patient, and when your line opens up crackin' that throttle. Man, if it wasn't raining I'd be out riding right now.

I found that I had been less attentive in my f150 than I had thought. I told my wife that riding the bike is like when I was driving a tracto trailer, you have to be aware of everything. The major difference was in the tractor you would kill someone on the bike they are trying to kill you.
