Default Thinking out loud and wanting feedback.

So I have a 2012 Heritage Classic. 27,854Km on it. Not much for add ons just some Vance and Hines long shots. Still own about $7000.00 on it. Here's what I am wondering if I should trade it in on a 2017 Road Glide Special?

I have been thinking about upgrading to the touring models for awhile now and this might be the time. Or keep this bike and start adding to it to make it more comfortable...i.e. upgrade shocks to the shot guns, different bars, maybe even a fairing and a few other things that would cost so much less then the new bike.

Help me think this through please...with some advice.

Just my opinion but I would wait at least a year on the new ones to see what shakes out problem wise with them. Maybe a traded in 14-16 Rushmore? They should be popping up at dealers all over.

Not beating on you, but $7K still on a 12? Dude, find a way to pay them down faster.

Well...good question...i own a '05 road king.....took me 10 years of add ons etc etc to get it to where i actually like my bike and there is nothing i would like to do to it...it fits me like a glove, I would like to get a 2017 but don't want to go through all of the changes....
You have basically a stock ride, if I was you....i would NOT put anything on it if you are looking at the 2017's .... Trade-it in but don't wait long to make into your own ride.
If you are looking you have the itch....

Are you comfortable with financing about $29k? Because in Canada, that's about what you'll be paying when all is said and done.

You've only got about $3k equity in your present bike after you pay off the note, and the RGS will set you back about $32k. You won't be scoring any deals on a hot bike like that.

My two cents: You're making payments, you've been making payments, why not go for it?

Maybe if a dealer would give you $13,000 or 14,000 for your trade to push out some new motors.

Maybe he didn't buy the bike new, that could explain why he still owes $7,000 on a 2012.

Would never happen, even at Canadian prices. He'll do well to get $10-11k in trade for his Heritage. Dealers in my area don't even want to see trade-ins; they're overstocked with used inventory already.
