Back when tires were skinny, I ordered them by mail or phone and mounted then myself. Now I just buy them from the same place that's going to mount them - and warranty them.
My locals don't warranty tires. Neither the INDI or the Stealerships.. I really don't have any reason to pay $50 more for a tire here. Plus my fav shop mounts my tires for $10.
Similar thing happened to me last month, tires showed in stock, a day or two later got a call that one was a mistake, not in stock, but they'd get it for me. Took about two weeks (got it the day after it was shipped, they're fast when they have it). One of the tires was 2 years old, one 4 years old, but they're a rare size not carried by many stores, so I'm not surprised. It's a temporary bike, anyway, it'll be gone before the tires should be a problem. Store was Dennis Kirk, and I won't hold it against them, bought from them before and always had excellent service. They try to satisfy when you call them, too, I'd use them again. I hope your experience doesn't indicate problems with Motorcycle superstore, have had many good buys from them.

I see you and OP are from Minnesota, your Dennis Kirk is in your back yard and will match any on line store. I have used Dennis Kirk many times over the years and bought many fresh tires from them. Top notch service and delivery. Returns are easy, also.
Exact same thing happened to me from the same place. Same talk on the phones until i asked for a supervisor. After speaking with him, he said he would "light a fire" and ship them overnight to me, but I would have to wait for the labor day holiday. I was fine with this. Well when I looked at the tracking, they shipped, but not overnight. Standard ground. I was annoyed, but at least I got my tires. Will think twice before ordering again from there.

Yeah, I agree.. Was a long time customer, and have visited two of their three stores! Not anymore.. Their 'parternership' for a warehouse with the Lexington KY company is costing them customers and orders. I hope they fix what they had soon, or they won't be in business. Which I'm hoping IS NOT the case!
Checkers, you are correct. I should state that I ordered from where I did due to them having another part that I needed that DK didn't have. Well that part arrived in 2 days, surprisingly from the same warehouse that the tire was SUPPOSED to come from; per the CS rep anyway.
I only ordered so that I could do the entire order in 1 place. My mistake, should have placed 2 orders.
I hope that the 'Execs' at my old favorite store figure it out!
