Default Woes ordering a tire.

I wanted to post on here, one to make my voice heard, and two to make all of you aware of what happened to me. I ordered a type from a well known Motorcycle Parts Warehouse in Iowa. I'll NOT name it due to it's affiliation with this board. I've been ordering from this company since I purchased my '94 Ultra in 2006! I've been to all of their stores, and have never had 1 single issue with their company, until now.

I ordered a tire and a set of bearings. Both parts labeled 'In-Stock' on a Monday morning, the tire had a note about 1-2 days extra handling. I thought OK, I should have this by the weekend, or the following Monday. No worries. I did receive the bearings on Wednesday from UPS. On Thursday (order +2 days) I called their customer service department, the nice person told me that the tires were IN STOCK, and in PICK, so they should ship in the next 24 hours. On Saturday I called back in. I was told the exact same thing. On Monday, now (order + 5 days) I was told that the 'warehouse' the order was shipped to did not have the tire in stock, however OTHER warehouses did. The person would escalate to a 'supervisor' and have the shipping warehouse changed and ship today. Tuesday comes, and STILL no shipment. I call in and ask why, I'm told that the company has 'NO' control over their shipping or contact, and that the supervisor 'e-mailed' the warehouse and it would take up to 48 hours to have a reply as to the change of shipping warehouse. And then when I pushed and explained my disapproval of their non-shipment of an 'In-Stock' part, and asking IF they could just re-order or have someone just make sure the part was SHIPPED since it was in stock somewhere, I got the standard "It takes 48 hours for anything we change".

I write software for a living, and I've never heard of a customer service department so 'hand-cuffed' in my life. Or a software that wasn't incorporated in a way that could actually communicate with the different 'vendors' in a meaningful way. I really feel sorry for these people.

To finish my story, I canceled my order that Wednesday. I had to call back in 36 hours later because my order still showed that it was valid, and 'In Process'. I was then again told that it could take up to 48 hours for my order to actually cancel, due to 'their HIGH volume of cancellations due to shipping issues'. anyway about 3pm Friday they finally canceled my order, and after 14 days I finally got my refund on my card.

I told the final worker, who was AMAZING as all of them were, that I hoped that their companies upper echelon of management learns that you can't treat people in a more immediate manner.

Before someone flames me for being impatient, which I'm sure you will! I was more ticked from being told it was being picked and shipped within 24 hours twice, and their in-ability to do anything for me than I was the length. If I was told. "Sir, we ran out, we have a shipment coming in on 'X-X-XX' and we will overnight the tire for your wait" I'd be fine.. Even without the shipping BTW.

Now, the same day I canceled the order, I ordered from another well known retailer. I got the tire the next afternoon via UPS ground.

Thanks for reading my rant!

If you search the name of the company on here, you will see many threads such as yours.
The company has even chimed in on a few of the threads asking for people to be patient while they straighten out their shipping issues.
I think these issues have been going on for at least a year now, but nothing seems to change.
Surprised they're still in business at this point.
There are so many other options out there, not sure why anyone would still deal with them.

I feel for you. Have on order a set of grips for an older S&W. Web site shows in stock. Get confirmation email and it shows shipping in 15-26 days. That tells me that they aren't actually in stock. So I will try to be patient for awhile. Don't understand why accurate information is so hard.

Check the date the tire was made. I just ordered a new set from a popular online shop, front tire was made in 2016, rear was made in 2012. No way in hell im about to put a 4 year old tire on. They're already back on the ups truck headed back. The tire looked like it had been sitting for years, that's what made me check, glad I did

nfe, I think your poor service provider needs to see some light of day. I see Motorcycle Superstore and J&P Cycle Parts as the first two listed on a Google search. Without naming which one it is specifically, please tell us which one is not having the shipping problems with you and we can figure out how to proceed with our information? Thanks

I'm happy you saved a pile of money not buying from a local shop.

Sorry to hear of your problems. I absolutely understand and think that your "rant" was fair and reasonable.

I've used a variety of online retailers as well as brick and mortar, the service aspect is what always gets me back bar none. I recently bought some tires from JAke Wilson and couldn't be happier with the service (and pricing) I received. Phenomenal people.

Don't be bashful. If someone is slipping you the "high hard one" give up the name. I'm too old to spend time trying to figure out who is screwing the pooch. That is the purpose of the internet. If a business blows share the information so someone else doesn't get screwed. If you're worried about offending anyone feel free to PM me with the info and I'll put it out there. Much, if not all of my day is spent offending someone.

Let's just say that your search brought up the correct place. And FYI, they are one in the same now! I'm not sure if it's a partnership or what. But The part was ordered from the latter, and the former is the address of the shipping warehouse.

As someone said, I am wondering how either is still in business with the shipping issues.

Anyway, As I said, I physically have the tire from the other place. It was made this April.. I'm happy with that. Thanks PD for reminding me to look it up!

Thanks for the support from all of you! I appreciate it.

As as I said before. IF the part was over ordered and backordered, I'd have been patient. The issue was more that when I called the rep's TOLD ME that it was in stock and would be shipped. That's an internal issue. Slightly different than S&W grips, but I'm hoping that they show up too!

Back when tires were skinny, I ordered them by mail or phone and mounted then myself. Now I just buy them from the same place that's going to mount them - and warranty them.
