Excellent strategy. I do this myself. Always "have a plan" for an out if needed.
This allows an emergency escape route by lane splitting between the stopped cars ahead of me. Never, ever stop directly on the center oil stripe. Besides the slippery surface, you are a sandwich if you get drilled.
100% correct.
Three seconds is an eternity if you need to move the bike NOW.
If you have a car/truck bearing down on you, it's best to already be lane splitting. A split second is an eternity in this scenario.
You can practice a snapped clutch cable by letting go of the lever when stopped. Other than a stalled engine there isn't much drama if the engine is at idle..
But thanks for the advice.
Unless you just have to make as much noise as possible by revving it. (You know, "Freedom" and all that.) Lots of riders do this.
Ride safe!

I always use the heel shifter(if you have one) to find neutral from first gear.

Where do I find this? Would HD have it, or do I need to buy one and bring it to them to install it?

Thanks!

If it is a new bike, it will get better after you put some miles on her.

Primary chain too tight will do it also....not adjustable on some newer bikes.
