Default Problem finding neutral?

I like to have my clutch engage near the center of the lever throw, its easier on my left hand, and easier to do friction zone stuff. Only thing is, it makes neutral hard to find.

You know the drill, bounce back and forth between first and second a few times, grumble, curse, hit the kill switch, then click it in to neutral.

Not having it, so I tried some experimenting around. Found that, if I'm in first, and put a SLIGHT pressure on the heel shifter, then give a SLIGHT blip on the throttle, it clicks right into neutral like it was an automatic function.

Takes a little practice to get the feel right, but once you do, it'll work every time.

Maybe a lot of guys (and girls) have found this out already, but if not, try it.

If you've only got a toe shifter, might work better going down from second. Gotta get that SLIGHT pressure. Shifter won't move until you do the throttle blip if you've got it right.

Hmmm...I'll have to try that. I get that sometimes, but yeah; mostly when I'm about to park it.

This is kinda like the thing I read sometime back about getting rid of hot start woes by blipping the starter once. It works, too...

If you are having such a hard time finding neutral, why don't you just install a Baker N1 shift drum?

I put in Mobil 1 and it immediately seemed harder finding neutral.
I switched back to Syn 3 and it seems to me to be a lot easier.
Maybe related-maybe not; but it's a thought?

I'll have to try this trick. For whatever reason, neutral is a pain in the a$$ on my '16 SB!

Thanks for the tip!

What year and model bike?
There are several things that can be adjusted to improve that.

I have a 15 SB and fight the neutral thing constantly. I am going to try and lower the shifter by one notch and see if that helps. I have about 2500 miles on it now, hopping that more miles will loosen things up a bit.

Neutral is for pu$$ies!

Seriously though, I find it easier going down from 2nd gear to neutral rather than clicking up from 1st.

Usually if you can't find neutral it's because the clutch is not getting enough disengagement. If you can find neutral no problem with the bike shut off but not with it running then it's clutch disengagement.

Why does anyone need to find neutral while riding?
