I pulled into the shop where I work trying to kick into neutral and turned to position bike when I felt it start to go over. I held on tight and just let her down softly, thank goodness no one else was around just set her up and dropped the stand.
Welcome to the club. The old, time worn expression: there are those of us that have and those of us that will.
And those who won't admit it! Stepped off mine one day and I heard a crash. Looked back and saw it laying on the ground! Jiffy stand broke! Couldn't believe it!
Phil
Your jiffy stand actually broke?? I've never heard of that happening. At least you had a good excuse!!
Yea! Me either! I had a HD mechanic tell me that a HD jiffy stand is one of the best made. When he was younger and had a better back, he used to tip the bike so that it was all the way on the stand and spin the bike around 180 degrees to get it out of a garage without having to back it out!
I had close call the other day. A friend rode up behind me. He had his highway peg on his engine guard folded down in the riding position. He didn't stop soon enough an hit my saddlebag guard rail with the peg and pushed me over. I kept it from going down, but I had to get help standing it up as I was too far over to stand up on my own. Man, I'm getting old!
Phil
I dropped mine with an audience in a slow race. Embarassed. High crowned old road 3 wide for the final. Steep slope and was winning, bike started over, placed right foot on ground ooops sand , slip, hang on while going down, throttled up engine when rear tire came off the ground.Scratched pipes andmirror. Reminder every time I clean the bike.
