Rented a bike from Eagle Rider, paid the daily fee, provided my credit card into, got a confirmation email. Seemed good, so I planned a weekend, but when the weekend came time, Eagle Rider said they did not have a bike available for me and there was nothing they could do. So they did not honor their side of the contract and did not offer to help me in any other way.
Why bother having a website and taking reservations if you aren't going to honor it and actually have a vehicle available? I almost can't believe it since this is their core business. My email inquiries on it have gone unanswered and phone representatives unwilling to help. Crazy!
Writing this to warn others...Don't bother planning a ride with these guys because you might get a bike, you might not. Has anyone else experienced this? If this is a rampant problem, the only way for them to learn might be a class action.
When I last rented from them (Manchester NH), they were great. Guy even came in on a holiday (Labor Day) to open the shop for me to pick it up.
I wonder if in your case the prior renter didn't return the bike on time. Even so, the shop should be somewhat apologetic and responsive to your situation.
I've had something like this happen... Or maybe it was a Seinfeld episode. But anyway what's the point of a reservation if they don't reserve a bike? Then it's just a vation and a shitty one at that.
I've rented bikes form the LAX location a few times, and never had anything but great service. I made my reservations online, ahead of time, and they always had the bike I'd reserved ready to go. One time, I rode from L.A. to Vegas and it was too cold to return the same night (it was mid January, and there was snow on the ground in the mountains), so I called them and told them I'd be keeping the bike an extra day, and they had no issues with it.
Not very classy to sign up to a forum just to disparage a business. Please come back when you have something meaningful to contribute.
I have never used Eagle Riders, but I have also never heard anything bad about them. To the contrary, everyone I know who have used them were very satisfied with their experience. My guess is another customer failed to return the bike they rented on time and of course it cascaded. That sucks, to be sure.
Hello and welcome.
Unusual situation but it does happen in the auto rental industry.
I could see it happening in the motorcycle sector too.
Maybe the previous renter was delayed due to an accident, breakdown or some other situation.
While i appreciate the heads-up and reminder that a vehicle might not be available,it would help to have an idea of the circumstance.
Basically we know you rented and the bike was unavailable.
For example : location or state of rental, was their a bike rally in the area?, did you take a flight to another state to get bike?, did you make it all the way to the shop and were told to go away?
Rather unusual for them to not offer something..come back later for upgrade, a ride someplace? , discount...something.
Their touring business model really is based on bikes being rented so it seems like something must have gone wrong in your situation but little information is known.
