Default Fluid change, now difficult neutral

Just changed my fluids from all Syn3 to E: Mobil 1, P: Formula+, T: Belray. Followed the measured amounts for my '14 SG per the service manual. Checked levels for engine and tranny to full - used the 38 oz for the primary. Now, and particularly after riding a while, neutral is very difficult to find. After riding for a while (40 mins to work for example) I cannot simply bump to neutral. BUT, if I turn the engine off, then flip the ignition back on (so I can see neutral) I can find it sorta ok. I had trouble the morning after the fluid change finding neutral when cold prior to starting. Rolled the bike back and forth, then I could find. I could find neutral nearly every time before the fluid change.

Does any of this indicate -something-? Too much or too little fluid? Should I check the Primary or Tranny? What might I have done incorrectly with the fluid? What's my fix?

From my experience, ease of finding neutral is more a matter of clutch adjustment as opposed to what fluid is in the primary.

My 2008 Softail had the same issue. I got rid of the Belray and it has been normal since.

I know I am going to get slammed, but since you did not mention a clutch adjustment I would think to much fluid.

Also, you mention checking trans fluid and engine oil-but you didn't mention checking the height of the primary oil. You can't just pour in a recommended amount, and expect the primary to be right.[probably too much oil in primary].
But yeah, adjust your clutch, after checking height of primary oil.

If it worked before you changed the primary fluid but only started acting up after, then you could have a little to much fluid in the primary.

My service manual has a caution about the primary fluid level that reads:

CAUTION
Do not overfill the primary chaincase with lubricant. Overfilling can cause rough clutch engagement, incomplete disengagement, clutch drag and/or difficulty in finding neutral at engine idle.

no clutch adjustment on a 14, so i'm thinking to much fluid in the primary.

One thing I learned on this forum was to rev the bike with the clutch pulled in and as the RPMs are falling, shift into neutral. My bike is really hard to find neutral and doing this, it pops right in every time.

Just my .02

Since the OP appears to have a rushmore in his sig pic I am guessing there is no clutch adjustment since it's a hydraulic clutch.

Fluid level too high or brand of fluid. I run Mobil 1 in the engine redline chain case and redline transmission fluid. 0 issues in 20K miles on the 16RGU and 0 issues in 32K miles on my 13SG

The wet fill measures are really pretty dead on in your service manual make sure you measure your fluid then pour it.

Primary should not come up higher than touching the bottom of your clutch.
