Default J&S jacks

Is it worth getting the dolly as well?

I didn't. Would you use it? Keep in mind the jack can be locked in the upright position to keep stress off the bottle.

Reasons why you might want it--
- you have two bikes and limited garage space.
- you have a long term project.
- scoot is going to be stored for a long time.

Yes on 2 bikes
Maybe on "long term" project - forks off for a few days
No on scoot being stored.

Eh, you probably wouldn't need the dolly. J&S just started selling the dolly very recently. I've got a few bikes in the garage, but haven't ever had the need to lift them both at the same time.

IMHO it would be unnecessary for me. I see a use if I had plans to be doing work on two bikes at the same time. Maybe if I lived in an area where I could not ride over the winter and wanted to do some upgrades to two bikes over the off season. For me personally I have never had the need to have two bikes at a time out of service with work going on on each.
I love my J&S and use it for getting bikes off the ground for detailing, fluid changes etc.... a good bit, but I never really have a project going on with multiple bikes at a time.
The other thing to think about also is, if I had projects going on on two bikes one on the jack and one on the dolly. If I finished the project on the bike on dolly and wanted to take it for a spin I have to get the bike on the jack down to use the jack to get the one on the dolly down. Thinking about that scenario it would seem the real benefit to the dolly would be use on a bike for long term storage

As far as I can tell the only benefit of the JS Jacks dolly is it frees up the jack for other uses.
There's also an installation process which adds time to it's use so other than freeing up the jack or used for long term uses like winter storage it probably wouldn't be used very often.

Also once installed the underside of the bike is still restricted so there's no benefit there.

I use a Redline dolly with my Sears yellow jack.
The Redline dolly not only provides a clear access to the underside of the bike but it also appears to add the same stability that the JS jack provides.

With the Redline dolly, you simple jack up the bike and slide the dolly around the jack and lower the bike onto it and remove the jack.
I did a review of the Redline dolly a while back.

IMO; if I got the JS jack I wouldn't spend the extra money on the dolly.

If you want a dolly, get a cheaper jack and add the Redline dolly to it so that you not only add stability but also gain unrestricted access to the underside of the bike all for a lot less money.

If you have more than one bike then just get another Redline dolly.
You can buy two Redline dollies for less than the price of one JS Jacks dolly.

Note that I believe the JS jack is too wide to be used with the Redline dolly.

Thanks folks. Spending money on a jack is one of those things where you really need to justify it's use. I don't speak for all, but it seems to be hard for bikers to spend $400+ on a piece of equipment such as a jack, yet they spend $400 on other stuff without hesitation. You never want to cheap down your expensive bike, same example applies to those who spend $20k on a bike and then want to try and load it onto a truck with a 2x12, instead of buying a decent truck ramp.

Just made the purchase for the J&S Jack. Btw, they're offering 15% off for cyber Monday so I paid $352. That's a helluva deal.

Everything you stated is certainly true, to include "spending money on a jack is one of those things you really need to justify it's use".
I looked at the JS Jack but couldn't justify the cost.

The $400+ cost isn't why I didn't go that route.
I just found that I could do everything I needed just a safely with a cheaper option.

I've had my $100 Sears yellow jack for a few years now and it's never let me down, however I only use it maybe 10 times a year.

I don't think you will be disappointed with the JS Jack.
By all accounts it is the best jack out there.
