Default Helmet Question

Open face helmets are quite normal but I'd to throw in a query about full faced helmets on bobbers with 14 inch
apes.

What's the take on the new Bell Moto Helmets with the bobber/chopper look?

So you want to know what everyone thinks of the "look" of someone wearing that helmet while riding a bobber with apes?

Are you wearing it for looks, or to protect your grape?

I'd go with what would give me the most protection. Looks be damned. My face is to pretty to get messed up.(cough, cough)

I use a half helmet myself, but if you are ugly use a full face one please.

What's the take on the new Bell Moto Helmets with the bobber/chopper look?
Bell makes great quality helmets. I know the Moto 3 is DOT certified but even better is the fact that Bell also has their helmets ECE approved which IMHO is a better more up to date standard than SNELL or DOT. So with that said as far as safety it has passed the most rigorous test out there and would be as good a choice as anything on the market as far as impact testing.

To me the down side of the Moto 3 is the lack of vents in the helmet as in it has none. If the helmet fits you properly without vents in the top there is no way to get wind in to the top of the helmet on hot days and as a result it will not be as coo (temperature wise) as a helmet with a good vent system. My guess is the top visor will do a good job of helping to keep the sun out of your eyes but at the same time at highway speeds my guess is it will catch wind depending on your head position. I have not tried a Moto 3 but other full face helmets without a shield I have tried did catch a amount of wind at highway speeds and it felt as if you were fighting the wind. Not really noticeable at slower speeds but once you hit 70+ it became a PIA at times. Bell also does three shell sizes in most of their helmets including the Moto 3 which allows you to get a better fit.

Basically I see it as a good choice from a safety standpoint due to the ECE cert so if you like the looks and style then go for it. It would not be my personal choice because I am not crazy about the look, the lack of top vents and the fact I am pretty sure it will catch wind at highway speed putting more strain on your neck on long rides

My "take" is that you ought to wear the one with the brightest color.
