What's up! I need some advice on a good helmet. My Bell Qualifier is good but it seems to make my ears ring after a long ride. I'm looking for something that eliminates as much wind buffeting as possible. I didn't have a problem when I wore my novelty with earplugs. I won't wear a novelty anymore due to getting stung in the face twice already. I live in So Cal and it seems like everywhere you turn they are doing some kind of road contstruction And there is debris everywhere. Thanks in advance!
I had a Nolan modular; now a Schuberth modular. Schuberth is lighter, quieter, has better peripheral vision and costs more. Wife just bought her second Schuberth. Period.
We've ridden thru 100 degree heat; might be a bit warm at stoplights in town but then you can crack the visor up. Keeps the hot sun and wind from baking your hide, too...
You have to try them on to see what fits your head. A Four hundred dollar helmet that doesn't fit won't be very comfortable and will be a waste of your money.
I have 2 Shoei RF1100's, and a Neotec. I like them all, the Neotec is heavier but it is nice to flip up the chin in traffic in the summertime, it also has a retractable sun visor that is nice. The RF-1100's are MUCH lighter weight. Airflow is good on all of them and so is visibility. The Neotec is a little louder also.
With a windshield or fairing I could run 100mph all day with any helmet full or half and no ear plugs. I rode my last bike without a shield and killed my hearing I was usually wearing a novelty without ear plugs at freeway speeds 65-85mph. Young and dumb and ears usually rang for hours after a long ride.
