I thought I'd drop this note here since it may be useful to someone searching at one point. I looked around at various phone mounts to be able to hold my iphone 6plus. I ended up with the Ram X-Grip and their Tough Claw.
The X grip is technically sized for the iphone 6, but it can handle the 6plus easy. The Tough Claw is a nice little adapter that hand tightens onto the handlebars. I was particularly looking for a mount that is easy to take off and put on. It tightens quickly and is very secure.
I've got a couple of hundred miles with this setup and no issues.
I had that mount and my phone took a flight lesson at 80 MPH. I don't know how it happened since it was in the mount for 200+ miles that ride. So I went with the Ram mount that has the retaining clip.
Put the darn thing in your pocket and Ride sheesh what's going on gps cell phones cup holders where does the darn big screen go now. LOL Just ride safe. Wild Bill
Its not like these things are new, they sell a trillion of them. I just got one, really just for streaming music via bluetooth. Powering it via USB cable to the cig lighter.
because my head unit (sony marine unit) doesnt have it. It will be literally 6 inches from the phone, so I expect no connectivity issues. Will test it all out when the weather breaks....
I guess it also makes my garmin nav obsolete, but I'll probably still use it.
Phone is theoretically waterproof (S7 Edge), not sure if I want to test that, however.
