I hit a pothole and snapped both upper shock bolts at the threads. Not sure how I stayed up... I was barely able to ride it out until I could pull over. Smoke was barreling out from under the rear fender because it was now sitting on the tire. Because the road was shaded by a row of trees, I didn't see it until it was too late. Not fun.
Wow, scary moment. Never heard of both shock bolts shearing before. I believe they are shoulder bolts, could be a weak point where the diameter changes.
Dam, Tony, you did a good job riding it out and not dropping bike. Expect you have a flat spot on rear tire, ha, ha.
Damn man that was a hell of a pot hole and you did a good job keeping that one upright. Had it been me their would be a stain on the seat LOL. Sounds like the City was not doing their job on pot hole repair

I had just installed a new tire 5 days earlier. It took a couple of small chunks out of the tread, but nothing where I would have to replace it again.
My indy came and trailered it back to his shop, which was not easy considering the rear tire will not move due to the rear fender sitting on top of it. Being the great guy that he is, he had me fixed and back riding again that afternoon.
