Gordon, it was on Satelite Blvd. between McGinnis Ferry and Lawrenceville-Suwanee.
I think the reasons I stayed on the bike after the hit - like most of you, years of riding experience helped. And the fact that I hit the pothole dead-center and not off-center. But most of all, I was lucky.
I submitted a claim to the Gwinnett County asking for compensation to cover the tow and fix. They declined (what did I expect?). However, this afternoon I rode down Satellite and every damn pothole had been filled and patched!
Way to go Tony. Where was the hole ? Not that it's even remotely close to riding it out on a bike but I just got the 530 back last night after hitting a hole on 85 north in So Carolina ,minding my business in the fast lane one second off the shoulder on the right sideways the next. 5400 in damage. It scared the living **** out of me can't imagine hitting one at speed on the bike. You got an angel looking out for you.
I might be done in Charlotte in a couple weeks. We need to get out and ride. It's been a while.G.
Glad you're okay, Gordon. You can always replace parts and money.
I hit a pothole and snapped both upper shock bolts at the threads. Not sure how I stayed up... I was barely able to ride it out until I could pull over. Smoke was barreling out from under the rear fender because it was now sitting on the tire. Because the road was shaded by a row of trees, I didn't see it until it was too late. Not fun.
Nice save , in honor of all if us that's dealt with potholes. Picked this up years ago.
Glad So Carolina DOT decided not to repair the hole I hit for several weeks. Time and date stamped photos I took for 3 weeks after the hit helped me get my deductible back from them. It's been 6 weeks since and the hole had a shitting cold patch done last week that's coming apart already.
9' long 18" wide fore the most part and 5" deep. It'at the 84.2 mile marker northbound side
When the snow melts in Minnesota and the street sweepers haven't gone around yet, it's not just missing the potholes, but trying not to slide on all the gravel that came out of them. Snow and salt aren't the only things that make winter riding hazardous here. It's not everywhere all the time, but my neighborhood looked like this for several years before they fixed it. A lot of roads are going to crap in this state, and they're not even close to keeping up with repairs.

That's ugly. If I had hit one of those, I would have gone down.
