Our Prayers go out to him, his family, and you also for keeping us informed, Positive thinking helps in more ways than we can imagine. You all are in our prayers. All the best...
Thanks again to everyone for all the support. I am now here on the ground and was able to see Randy yesterday. He does look a lot better than he initially did. He has been off the chemical coma meds for about four days now but has yet to wake up. Docs are saying the meds he is on will have a big impact on keeping him asleep but I'm hopeful that any day now he will wake up.
Your cousin rode without med insurance? (Such that it is?)
His bill won't be cheap.
Maybe a ride to benefit/support his care in the future?
As we know, crashes/accidents/collisions/even "near misses" are usually caused be a series of events. These factors contribute to the end result.
When you say "he strayed towards the white line," this is usually a contributing factor that lead to his crash. If we were to "reverse time" a little bit, we may see another factor before this. Could be anything.
Lapse in concentration, mind on something else, riding someone else's ride, tired/angry, happy, euphoric, panic, any emotion. Any of these (and many more) could be contributing factors.
Then, we have "learned" behavior.
Training or lack thereof.
And many others.
Then, we have choices.
Riding when emotional.
Riding while under the influence.
Riding when we're tired.
Riding at a pace we're not comfortable with. (AKA~ Riding someone else's ride.)
And many others.
I've been involved with moto crashes for many years. Some, at the scene. I haven't seen one that did not have a contributing factor. Including my own.

Thanks. I'm tracking the funding sites and actually have had one posted in the OP from the beginning of this thread.
Recent update on Randy;
He does have severe brain trauma but Randy is fighting everyday and making progress. He has been set back with c.diff but was caught early . He opens his eyes for a short period of time. He has been able to follow a couple of simple commands but has a long way to go.

Sorry there haven't been many updates lately. It's very tough here on the ground but Randy has been showing some signs of improvement. He has been moving his left arm and both legs periodically. He has also been responding to simple voice commands. Doctors also said the C.Diff turned out to be a mild case and is clearing up but not totally gone somvisiting is still limited.
It is definitely hard watching Randy's wife get crushed by medical bills and the legal processes. I stood in his garage yesterday taking pics of all his motorcycle parts to get them posted for sale online. I couldn't believe what I was doing and as I was standing there in a daze It started to sink in more that I may not ride with him again.
Here is a recent pic of Randy in the hospital. There is also another event to support Randy coming up. Local American Legion is hosting a fundraiser on May 21 from 1-5 pm so if your in the north Jersey area please stop by as there will be a TON of awesome stuff to bid on.
