Jay here from Tx, still shopping for my first Harley but figured I'd join up to chat and instead of clogging up the general forums maybe someone out there can answer this.
Would a Harley Dealer take a non-harley as a trade in? I currently have a Can-Am Spyder and I am looking to get rid of it, miss two wheels too much.
Welcome bud, as far as the trade it's hard to say. Some dealers will trade on non harley, others won't. Either way, you won't get much. Better shot would be sell it yourself, just price it fair

I can't speak for a dealer so that is a question you should be asking them. Personally, you'd be better off trying to sell your Can Am and then take the money to the dealer to buy your Harley.
I really can't recommend getting a harley a all. The price, the douche-bag image that comes with it, the lack of reliability, the hate from your neighbours, the out-dated leather clad look, the insane amount of complete jerks on HD who ruin our reputation, the fact that most decent people hate us, the delusion of self-worth you have to push on yourself to make it through each day, the empty feeling you get the day you realize you've become the most hated person on your block, the McDonald's-like "originality" of HD (meaning not original or unique at all), the effort it takes to convince yourself that being a nuisance is somehow patriotic, the amount of earplugs you go through so you can annoy others without hearing your pipes yourself, the pain of realizing you've been marketed to and sold a sub par product and that you are not a rebel but rather a simple cog in the machine of consumerism...
J/K I love my HD! Get a Sposter, they are the best HD bikes out there by far!
They most likely will take it, although might try to haggle a lower trade-in value since they are a Harley shop. The truth is that they can easily send it off to a partner shop and get a lot more than they give you. Good luck.
Where at in San Antonio do you live? I used to live in Universal City, lived off of Dare lane closest major road being O'Conner. I graduated from Judson!
