Default Storage Pockets Under Windshield

Help me out here - I'm a new owner (FLHX) and I've seen an accessory on some Harleys that has pockets just below the windshield - this is on bikes that have a fairing. These pockets seem ideal for storing sunglasses and stuff like garage door openers. There are either two or three pockets, and they somehow attach just below the base of the inside of the windshield.

Is there any particular brand or model that you recommend, or that you would suggest I steer away from? I'm going to be down at the dealership later today and am considering getting one there, but wonder if there are aftermarket units that are superior to what the dealer provides.

I would like to add one of these to my electra glide, but can't find one aftermarket that gives me the velcro closure that the HD model does. The only reason I would buy the HD model is because I really want velcro closure.

I know my buddy runs a harley 3 pocket on his ultra, he swears by the thing. About the only caveat I could give is that water gets in them pretty easy. My buddy keeps smokes, sunglasses, and jolly ranchers in his.

I had the 3-pocket H-D brand on my '07 Electraglide. It attaches easily at the base of the windshield and has hook-like prongs that secure it on the top lip of the inside fairing. All you have to do is loosen the 3 screws on the front fairing that secures the windshield to the fairing and pull the top fairing away slightly which will open up a small gap to secure the pouch. I was able to do this without removing the windshield. Now, my opinion on the windshield pouch. I had it on my bike for a couple of months and after a while I noticed fine littlescratches on the inside of the windshield (between the pouch and the windshield) which is caused by thepouch slightly rubbing against the windshielddue to the normal vibration of the bike. I also found that I was unable to clean the area between the pouch and windshield because of the snug fit of the pouch against the windshield and it was clearly noticeable. So, I decided to remove it and it found another happy home via ebay.Other than the above mentioned concerns, I found the pouchto be very handy and easily accessible. It also slightly obstructed my view through the lower portion of the windshield but it wasn't enough that Iconsidered it a big concern although this particular reason is why some people remove the pouch.Hope this information will help you on your decision.

Hey jammer,

did the inside of the pouches stay dry?

The 3-pouch H-D brand that I had stayed fairly dry. However, there was just a little gap on the outside of each flap that would allow a little bit of water to get in there but not much. About the only thing I ever noticed was a little bit of dampness. I would usually remove all my items in the pouches before I washed the bike. Or, maybe you could just cover them with a piece of plastic while you wash your bike. If you're caught in a heavy rain while on the bike I would think that the windshield would block most of the rain and prevent them from getting really wet and as long as the water isn't coming directly in from the sides I don't think you would get anything other than a little dampness. I don't know for sure though because I had never been caught in a heavy rain while I had the pouches mounted. Maybe someone else can give you a little more insight on this particular topic.

My buddy says washing the bike is when he gets things wet in the bag and sitting still in a heavy rain but while riding itas fine.
