I have a 3 pouch bag on my EG Classic with a 6 1/2" smoke windshield. I have never had anything get wet or had it be a problem.
They will not work with the 4" shield on the SG, but they will work with the 6 1/2". This size will let you use the bags, give you a little more wind protection, and still maintain the look of the SG.
Went to the dealer today - the pouch setup they carry won't work with my Street Glide because the windshield is too short. They said that the pouches are exposed slightly to the wind, so it is an issue.
Brother has a Street Glide and went with slightly taller shield due to buffeting while riding and usesthe bag which is just one pocket. Works fine for him. Might want tolook into taller windshield.
As far as the water I have a single bag , I don't get any water leaking in
And we have some good rain down here
It's not water Proof but it keeps things dry
