I give up

I have a squeaking sound on my 08 RG that appears to be comming from the windshield, at the bottom where the thing attaches to the faring. For the life of me I can't find out what is causing it. I push up on the windshield and it stops, when I release the pressure the noise is back. I'am at my witts end trying to figure it out. Hate rattles or squeaks.

Do you have weatherstripping between the windshield and the outer fairing (it would be seen near the top of the fairing, and seals the windshield water from going into the fairiing like a waterfall)? I had a squeak in my bike there. When I replaced the windshield with something more custom, it came with a weatherstripping piece. Didn't have a original piece from the factory in there, so put it in, windshield in place, and squeak is gone. Not sure if my bike was supposed to have the weatherstripping, but the one I put in helped.

Also, make sure your three upper outer fairing screws are snug that hold the windshield in place.

thought i read on here somebody removed the rubber moulding at the bottom of the windshield completly for the same concern. mine squeeks once in a while .i'm thinking of trying that first myself ..

If it is the weather striping maybe you could spray a little silicone spray in the area works on my pickups weather striping

I put some clear silicone on the seal to hold it to the windshield and then CAREFULLY tighten the screws. If you overtighten the screws you will crack the windshield (Spider cracks). The silicone is only to hold the seal on and keep it from moving around.
