my opinion
As a service writer (not at a Harley dealer), I can tell you a warranty dollar looks exactly the same on my check as a customer pay dollar.

The labor rate ($) is the same, but the hours paid to dealer (tech) for warranty repair is in the area of 40% less then retail. As a dealer or tech working on warranty repairs for 40 hrs, tech gets paid 24 hrs X there hourly rate. Both tech and dealer loose.

That is my thought now. I think the 110cu engine is finito, I don't think we'll see any bikes with 110s in 2018. Just my opinion from what they are saying.

This is why I don't buy new very often.
-My '93 Evo came with the same shitty base gaskets that hadn't worked since the Evo first came out, and potential issues with the cam bearing (changed it before anything happened).
-My wife buys a '05 Dyna. At 25,000 miles, cam chain tensioner on the way out. Again, changed to the later hydraulics ('06) before it broke. The hydraulic update is stamped "hybrid" on the package, meaning it came from Andrews (aftermarket...someone else solved HD's issue). The TC first came out in '98...WTF.
-Over the years, I have found an agreeable combination of improved aftermarket parts to make my Evo perform and last. The really sad part is that I have more faith in that 23 year-old Evo with over 100K on it than anything HD sells now. Their track record sucks...now there's a demographic they should consider.
UKLauren, Sorry for your trouble, but you aren't alone. We all must be nuts.

i fully agree with you. the evo base gaskets got worse as time went on and the cam bearing change in jan. 92 was so they could save a few pennies. first twinkies were not so good and then the crappy primary tensinor. after they figured out the cam tensnior problem they started using a cheap flywheel and crank bearing setup. shitty wheel bearings were next and on and on and on with the factory cheapening out at every chance they get.

I've done a lot of shipping and customer service. When they say there's no pro number or no tracking number that's just not possible. I don't know what could be the problem. But somebody is not telling you the whole story.

+1 Sounds sketchy that no one knows, or can find out where, the engine is...
