New here and new to Harley. I have a few thousand on my (new to me) 2009 FXD and love it!
Sorry to hash this up. I read a lot of posts and didn't find this specific question. I am new and probably will get better at searching so please bear with me...
Rear tire is thin so I am looking at the Night Dragon 180 .
Embarrassing question is the confusion: what is the difference between the 180/60-17 and the 180/60-B17?
I thought they were the same perhaps but I see the option for "B" or no "B" and about a 10$ difference in price so want to ask before I order...
Pay attention to the red boded portion. Your rear tire needs to meet or exceed the th load rating which is 73 and the speed rating of V.
Unless that bike already has a 180 on it you need to measure and make sure a 180 will fit. Also keep in mind that rim is an inch narrower than a 180 rim if it's the stock rim.
B stands for Bias Ply construction, rather than radial belted.
The OP didn't mention which specific FXD model he has, but if it's one of those with a 4.5" wide rim, the 180/60-17" Night Dragon will fit and work just fine. H-D even makes a "wide tire" kit for this upgrade which consists of the necessary hardware to keep the under fender wiring tucked out of the way.
A caution, though. The Night Dragon is one of only three (AFAIK) tires of this size that will fit this rim and work well.
Please reject the nay-sayers B,
As mentioned the B stands for Bias ply,, and when you see a Night Dragon listed without the letter B it's a typo or simply left out.
All Perelli Night Dragon tires are bias ply.
I have an 09 FXD with Ng's front (110/90 front) and back (180/60 rear) and love the tires,, super sticky even in hard rain/wet road situations.
Just a word about pressure I've been running between 35-38 in the rear and the after about 6,000 it's showing wear,, I understand I should have run in the 40-42 range, the NG's like higher pressure.
I ride and corner hard when I know the road, so grinding a rear tire off in 6-7K miles is part of the game.
I'll just buy another Perelli Night Dragon.
It is a basic fxd. Not the custom, wide glide, etc
Ill check the rim but I think it's 4.5 inches. Heard the same things about night dragons. Sticky means soft, soft means less miles... makes sense. I'm ok with that.

theres a link above to a wheel size chart you bike has a 17x4.5 if it is spoked stock, im not sureabou the switchblade mags i those are what you are running. I ran a 180/60-17 Nightdragon my stock spoked wideglide 17×4.5. Now running a 18/55/18 nightdragon.
No worries. I'm just looking to wedge a 180/60/17 under there.
Not sure why. Just need a new rear tire and want to go big without mods. (New to Harley, not to bikes... been riding and building my whole life)
Bike has the factory mags
I know people say the basic Dyna is pretty entry level, But I've driven quite a few Harleys and I really like the stripped down look/feel and it handles like a dream! I heard a lot changed in the 09 models (frame mostly)?
