Yeah look through the price increase thread .. my 17 ultra 24446 with gap out the door and they paid off my goldwing. Got to walk away .. and dont fail in love
A couple of months ago I walked into a dealership on a deep sea fishing expedition! I wanted WAY more for trade than I figured my bike was worth and asked for a huge discount off of sticker. I didn't want to have ANYTHING else (taxes, prep, shipping, what ever) added to the price! After going back and forth a few times, we were about $1500 apart. I then told them that I'd even take a left over 2016 instead of a 2017! They weren't interested at all! As I was walking to the door the salesman yelled over to me and asked if I'd do the deal right then and there if they met my numbers!! An hour later I rode out on a new 2017 Heritage. Go figure!
Way to many very low mileage garage queens out there. I'm sure I could find used 2016 with less than 4000 miles for way way less than MSRP. Right now HD has a glut of unsold and used bikes.
That tactic might work on a 2017, but if I see a 2016 just days away from the 2018 launch with the M8 engine and they still have an MSRP sticker? They can skip rocks.
With the internet, access to information is just about instantaneous. I can have their dealer cost and incentives within minutes. If they want to treat me as if I'm an idiot, the joke is on them. I have the money. The last I heard, bikes aren't flying out the door anymore.
If you want my money, don't insult my intelligence.
A friend wanted to buy a Vrod a couple years ago and contacted a dealer who had a new, on the floor, Vrod that was two years old at that point. They wouldn't take less than MSRP plus ttt. They're probably still sitting there...
