Default 2016's no deal!

Saturday I was at a local Harley dealer and as I browsed through the showroom, there were several brand new 2016's there.
One thing I noticed is the price tag hanging from the handlebars had the MSRP price, plus Dealer Markup of about 15- 20% added to the total cost of the bike.
If I was in there looking for parts and saw I bike I liked, and then saw what they were asking for it, I would walk away.
There is no way they will get MSRP plus dealer markup on a bike unless someone doesn't know what they are buying.
This is crazy.....and the 18's will be out in a few days or maybe a week.

Not saying it's a good way to go but if they're keeping those tags on there and customers start to negotiate from that down, they have a lot more profit to work with when making deals.

Most places aren't going to just give you a deal for walking in, you have to fight for that. That's why it takes hours to buy a car/bike.

They are the guys that fold or are sold. Not only Harley. I was riding Yammys for a while. We had a star bike group out of a dealership. When members wanted to buy a new bike, they approached owners that did not want to come down. Everyone went elsewhere to buy. Owners put and lost everything into that business.

I mean, you're right but not always.

Some people are like that, others will sit there, keep drinking shitty coffee, and grind it down. Believe it or not, some people love that process.

I've sold bikes at a few major dealerships in Socal and I've seen all kinds of buyers. There's variables too that can't be applied to every situation. Some people won't travel too far from home so they'll fight for that deal in their backyard. Others are after a special model that other dealers don't have etc...

Was the markup the Dealer prep fee and delivery fee, or an additional item? Also, did you ask about a specific bike and the price or did you just notice the tag? I don't know if I would expect the dealer to put a clearance tag on it unless they're desperate. I would imagine that most dealers would be very willing to negotiate on a '16 though?

I bought my 2013 brand new 1 month before the 2015's were to come out. Almost 4 thousand off msrp and no fees. It can be done.
