Damn .. they are going to dick around and put themselves out of business.
It's actually smart business. They free up over a quarter of a million dollars in cash to invest into a more profitable area and an area that will turn that money over quicker. It's simple economics really.
Was the markup the Dealer prep fee and delivery fee, or an additional item? Also, did you ask about a specific bike and the price or did you just notice the tag? I don't know if I would expect the dealer to put a clearance tag on it unless they're desperate. I would imagine that most dealers would be very willing to negotiate on a '16 though?
Why would any dealer put a tag on a bike that turns people away? When I bought my 17 in September the dealer had a bunch of new 17s on the showroom floor with prices proudly displayed, the MSRP and below it and a good amount lower the price to buy it. There are dealerships and then there are stealerships.

Plus the 2016s (& 2017s) are hurting this dealers '18 model allocation. And unless things have changed in the last few years, the factory warranty will start ticking away on the 16s on the 2018 official announcement day. Buy one of those 16s two months from now and you'll get a 22 month factory warranty instead of 24.

If I'm not mistaken, if the 2016 bikes have never been titled the factory must issue a full warranty to any buyer that first titles it? Regardless of the date purchased.

Above quote is correct..
Second point - the dealer in the OPs post, boy they are making some dumb moves that violate common business sence...

That was my thought. But hey, it's their business. They can run it however they want.
I suppose they are hoping that some sucker comes in, sees the prices on '17's and 18's, then see's the price on that leftover '16 and thinks it looks pretty good.
Who knows. Maybe that works for them.
Personally, I take very little interest in anyone's asking price on anything. Dealer? Craigslist? Doesn't matter. If someone is asking $15k for something that's worth $12k to me, I'll offer them $12k. They can either take it or not. Their choice. Just business. Nothing personal. Occasionally a seller will take offense. I just tell them it's obviously worth more to them than it is to me. No hard feelings.

Yep. It's a buyer's market, and we're getting into the buyer's time of year.
