Now the new Breakout, that's a whole new monster. Extremely sleek looking. Can't image what a bike that small with the M8 114 would be like. Would love to take that out on a test ride, but seeing as how I just bought a new Ultra last week, it's probably best not to tempt myself.
Going from a 5 gallon tank on a 2017 Breakout to a 3.5 gallon tank on a 2018 is ludicrous.

And it is not the only model they did that to.

A Heritage without a passenger back rest?

What's next? A touring bike without a windshield? Oh wait, they started doing that last year.

In sense it reminds me of the early 80's when pick up trucks were being sold without rear bumpers, yet the law required a rear bumper, therefore you had to buy a bumper separately and pay to have it installed because you couldn't drive it on the road without it.

Like the previous poster...if it don't move me visually, I don't care how good the ride or how fast the motor. And, I spend a helluva lot more time looking at & admiring my bike than 1% of it.

Maybe the M8 gets twice the gas mileage.....

Or market research showed most riders live with in 15 miles of their bike-night bar of choice. 3.5 Gallons will get you a month of riding.

50 new bikes in 5 years apparently, I wonder how many people rushing out to buy a new bike will regret their decision. And everyone except Harleys from what I've read are saying the Dyna's are dead, who knows what's coming mid year.
Personally I'm happy to plod on with my old 88 Nightrain.

Maybe they factored in trailering the bike everywhere?

I had a 91 or 92 Sportster with the tiny peanut tank. I replaced it with a fat bob tank and dash from Custom Chrome.

Maybe the aftermarket will offer a bigger tank?

I was hoping they would have gone with a six gallon tank on a Heritage this year.

For me personally it was the Rushmore advancements that got me checking into HD again. I have been riding for 30 years now and my first Harley was a 2015 Ultra Limited. Traded for the 2017 CVO Limited also because I liked the advancement in the design with the suspension, engine, etc.....

My previous 4 bikes before the 2 HD's were all Jap bikes because at the time of purchase the HD's just didn't ride very good nor did they have very good reviews regarding quality. Wouldn't buy an HD for status. It wasn't until they made them better that I got one. This says a lot because I do buy American; HD (now that they are awesome), Jeep (mediocre but American made and fun) , Ford, brooms, shovels, and anything else I can at the time of need.

It appears they are continuing down that path and hopefully will convert folks over along the way. They got me to buy solely on the improvements and changes. Too me a bike has got to be safe, reliable, fit and finished well, and then looks....that's subjective.

No hate here for what HD has been doing or has done with this years line-up, although glad I got the 2017 just because I do like the chrome better but again, subjective.

Yep! Like an ugly chick that's good in bed, you eventually have to stop and look at her. Visual style is where some of the new Softail's fall short.

The color combinations aren't too impressive. That's pretty typical of first year bikes from Harley. Next year'll be better colors.

But I love the bikes themselves. They're just very expensive.

I'm underwhelmed because of the elimination of the Dyna. Like others said previously, if I wanted a softie, I would have bought one years ago. Instead, I bought dynas and they were the best bikes I ever owned. I'm currently on a roadking that I converted to a trike, but the new lineup does nothing for me since it's basically sporties, softies, and touring bikes. I've ridden softails and they do not cut it for me compared to the dynas. Harley eliminated what I considered to be one of their finest lines. Oh well, I'm happy with what I already have so no loss as far as the motor company goes. I wouldn't have purchased one anyway.
