Default How many frozen brake pedals and levers?

How many riders have experienced frozen ABS brake controls resulting from the failure of the early (08 -12) ABS units. Apparently a corroded ABS valve malfunctions resulting in hydraulic lock of the lever or pedal rendering that brake useless.

I reckon the corrosion and frozen controls is from lack of maintenance. Brakes need to flushed every 2 years to get the moisture out of the fluid.

There are plenty of threads on brake maintenance and fluid changes as they relate to this failure. I simply wanted this thread to be a check in for those that experienced the failure or know of someone that did. Information such as date, consequences if any and year and model would be nice to know. Info on the repair, cost and who paid for it would be nice to know also. Thanks much

Thanks for pointing out the ticking time bomb thread. I have been there. Seems like there are a few riders posting there that have had the frozen lever or pedal. There are several other threads that also get into various aspects of the ABS failure and may include other impacted riders.

Looking at just two of the many threads on ABS failures I found the following posted failures. I have listed the members user name and any other info I could glean from the post:
m50, 2010 Ultra, front, 12/1/17
Scratch's wife's bike, rear
Frozen Excursion, 2011 FLHX
SBates08 uncle, 2009EG
ajmork76, rear
DamifIknow, 2010 Ultra
flhxkiller, 2010SG, front

These were from two of the shorter threads.

Never! Many bikes with ABS and many miles. All I ever did was flush them at the indicated service interval. Gee! I wonder if that helped?

Ticking time bomb = BS Just take care of business like all responsible adults do.

OP Are you a Crusader or Don Quixote?

My 2010 FLHTK is in the shop right now for the front lever freezing. Looks like it's the HCU. And when it freezes you have no brake. It doesn't lock the brake. If squeezed real hard it would very slowly compress and then break free and work for a short time before locking up again.
