Just to compare today vs past years! My first Harley was a 1971 Harley.. In my opinion not the same but I am older and cranky now too! Nothing is like they used to be I guess and maybe its hard for me to adjust to this era of bikes!
Don't mean to offend anyone at all Its just that I may not be adapting to the changes in the line ups today compared to my younger years and there are vast differences IMHO!
The tradition that made them great in my younger days and if you can't differentiate it then your not old enough!
Not sure how old you are but being 70 years old myself, I don't miss those great traditions of puddles of oil under the shovelheads, or that really enjoyable tradition of greasing up the chain or that tradition of rejetting the carb. My first new H-D was a new 1974 AMF Sportster and then in 1976 a new 77 Superglide which I guess evolved into the Dyna. Then I got out to raise a family and jumped back in with a new 1993 Fatboy in 1992 and then 3 or 4 news ones since then.
IMO they are only getting better. My plan is to buy a new 18 or a 19 at the latest. Just waiting for them to get the Stage III and Stage IV bugs worked out.

Wouldn’t that “Harley tradition” mean riding a 1903 single? Hell, every improvement they’ve ever made has people shouting how Harley is ruined. Who are you to say that the pinnacle was 2016 or 1971 or whatever? I remember people losing their **** about AMF, about the Evo, about the TC, about the Softail...every time a new model or innovation comes out, people start ripping their damn hair out.
I just traded a 2013 bagger for a 2018 bagger and the new one is MILES better than the old one. Personally, I don’t want to go back to carbs and points and drum brakes and kickstarters and oil leaks and 6V electronics...
Y’all that want your ‘tradition’ can keep buying up the used bikes...the more people want used bikes, the more my old one is worth at trade time.
Maybe its me and I am traditionalist but losing the dyna series is a disappointment. Even tho the lowrider is avail. but in the softail frame. but??They are forcing one to go to the softail and upwards.
