What a coincidence. I just changed the oil in my primary as well.

My manual said 34 oz wet.

However, what I did is drained into a large measuring container, and then just refilled the exact same amount as was in the container.

Pardon my ignorance (new rider and only changed the oils once) but what is “wet” vs “dry” in this context? I added a quart to mine a few months ago (I believe that is what manual called for) and no issues.

Wet refers to a fluid change only. Dry refers to filling a new or rebuilt unit with no residual fluid in it.

In my manual, dry referred to the system being completely "dry" - as in completely new as in just put together from parts. "Wet" referred to when the system has already been run with oil, and now drained.

At least, that is my understanding.

[QUOTE= I've always just put a qt. of Formula + in my primary and not worried about it. Never had a problem in almost 50 years of riding HDs.[/QUOTE]

I hope you weren't putting oil in your primary near those 50 yrs ago. Probably wouldn't go well with those old dry clutch plates. LOL

And? Is he experiencing clutch issues? If he is, he didn't post it. Just drain it, fill it with the prescribed amount, and button it back up. Don't stress irrelevant stuff.

Same here. It doesn't have to be at a precise level. People seriously overthink this.
