I don't understand why some people feel the need to bash my skills because I asked for some advice on repairing a critical safety feature.
I'd suggest "You must be new here." but I see you've been a member since 2016. Good luck with your brake switch and don't mind the ********. Present company included.
No biggie. Sure u have answers but get the switch. Remove two wires. Screw old out and be ready to screw new in. Go up hand tight and then back off about 1/2 turn. Push the brake pedal with your hand till you see fluid coming out . Air came first, so you are good. Tightening pipe NPDS THREAD fitting and replace wires either side since this is just a break in a single wire.
let us know how long it took to change out the switch.
Didn't get it done yesterday due to storms all day.
Just finished today.
If you only count wrenching time - 5 minutes.
Was able to swap out and only lost a few drops of fluid. I used a bungie cord to put a little pressure on the pedal. Did not have to bleed.
If you count the time to find the part and tool - about 3 hrs.
Turns out the switch from O'REILLY'S (not Napa)
Would not fit. The body of the switch is larger and not enough clearance between frame and engine.
Had to get OEM switch from HD. BTW was $8.00 cheaper at New Smyrna store vs. Ormond at about $20.00.
Also found out a 17 mm deep socket or box end wrench are the only tools that will fit.
The socket was cheaper .
